Angenieux has been an industry standard since the company entered into the cinematic world by introducing zoom lenses for motion picture cameras in the 1950s. Their Optimo zooms have been a staple on sets ranging from commercial to features and now they are taking to the prime game with their new Optimo Primes. Debuting a prototype at Cinegear 2019, cinematographers will soon have the ability to capture the company’s signature look achieved through its range of zooms in a set of 12 prime lenses, allowing DP’s to get the same look that they’ve already been using for decades as a zoom. With a 46.5mm Image Circle, they can more than support Full Frame coverage for popular bodies/sensors such as Arri’s LF line, RED’s Monstro, and the Sony Venice – just to name a few. All focal lengths will be T1.8 and feature interchangeable mounts for PL, EF, LPL, XPL, Nikon F, and Panavision XL.
