It’s a new year, and that means resolutions for a lot of people. Maybe you’ve decided to exercise more and eat healthier, but might we suggest something a little less traditional. Many of us want to be more involved within our community, but it’s hard to decide what exactly that would look like, so let Expressway help you out!
When it comes to the film scene in Philly, we’ve got you covered. There are many film organizations in Philadelphia worthy of your support. One that comes to mind is the Philadelphia Film Society: the organization behind the Prince Theater, PFS Roxy, and so much more.
Our favorite event organized by PFS is the Philly Film Showcase. According to their website, the Showcase is “an exhibition supporting new work by talented up-and-coming local filmmakers of all ages, level, and backgrounds complete with a post-screening Q&As with the filmmakers and talent”. This event happens on the second Thursday of every month The best part: it’s totally free.
This month’s lineup includes four local filmmakers– check out who they are. We do recommend getting tickets in advance if you can as it’s a quite popular event. But don’t fret if you are unable to get a ticket or make it. The Philly Film Showcase is a recurring monthly event. So you’ll have a lot of chances this year to support your local film community!
