Women’s Mobile Museum Exhibit Opening

January 16, 2019

The Philadelphia Photo Arts Center is a Philly staple, and we highly recommend this organization to all those interested in learning more about the art, impact, and the appreciation of photography. PPAC, like Expressway, supports the local Philadelphia creative community, and we hope that you’ll support them at their upcoming opening featuring the work of some amazing local artists!

Women's Mobile Museum trainings in Philadelphia, PA

Ten Philadelphia women spent a year working with Zanele Muholi and Lindeka Qampi to develop an exhibit that challenges a traditional art world: The Women’s Mobile Museum. They ask their audience to reflect on the question: Who is art for? This exhibit is sure to impress as it ensures access to those who traditionally don’t have the opportunity to experience art. This exhibit exemplifies Philadelphia Photo Arts Center’s mission.

The Women’s Mobile Museum with Zanele Muholi has been curated by Renée Mussai and opens January 24, 2019, at PPAC and will run through the end of March. Opening Reception will also be the launch of the Women’s Mobile Museum Magazine, but we suggest getting there early, specifically 5 pm, to discuss the works with the curator.

For anyone who can’t wait until the end of the month, Philadelphia’s Academy of Fine Arts has opened an exhibit in December that includes additional works by the same remarkable artists. We suggest heading over to the Richard C. von Hess Foundation Works on Paper Gallery to see what the curator, Jodi Throckmorton, has done with the art from these astounding women. Sundays are free!
