Unveiled this year by K5600, Expressway is now stocking the new Joker² HMI. Not only does the new Joker series introduce a sleeker design that is sure to impress producers and DP’s, it also comes with some key features that give the nod to frustrated gaffers and electrics everywhere.
The new Jokers include a redesigned yoke which is much easier to adjust and lock down tightly. It is sturdy and can hold the weight of large softboxes as well as Bug-a-beam adapters with larger lenses like 5 and 10 degrees.
Speaking of the Bug-A-Beam adapter, K5600 has finally answered our prayers. Gone are the days of lost little silver screws. The beaker and Bug-a-Beam adapter now install extremely quick and easily via a threaded collar making assembly a breeze. This cut the average build time for a Jo-Leko in half and makes more a much smoother on set experience.
The Joker² also boasts the most output per watt in the HMI category, and the new models all include a high-speed capable, flicker-free ballast with Wireless DMX capabilities. While some might say that not much has changed, we think this is a huge overhaul which will bring improvements to efficiency on set and will be a reliable fixture that will continue to make its way onto sets for years.
